Window Glass

Up until 40 years ago, homeowners only had one option of glass for their windows - a single pane of glass. In the 1960s, America was introduced to the first custom-insulated glass window, and with it came not a single pane of glass but a double-paned glass window. Over time, many features were added to not only the glass on the window but also the spacer system that separated the glass on the window. This led to the inception of the intercept spacer system. This system eliminated the problem of seal failures, which often led to condensation between the two panes of glass on the window.  In recent times, performance glass packages have been enhanced with such features as Lo-E, Argon gas between the glass to help the insulating value, heat mirror glass, and krypton gas. Additional enhancements include super peak performance glass windows, krypton gas-filled spaces, and the innovation of a warm edge spaced system that completely eliminates any chance of condensation between the panes of glass. Lo-E has been instrumental in the performance of window glass because it allows natural light to enter so freely in the winter that indoor long-wave heat energy is reflected back into the house, lowering heating costs. In the summer, outdoor long-wave heat energy radiating from objects is reflected back outside, lowering cooling costs. Today the glass on a good window system can be so smart it can actually serve as a climate control system for your home!
