Zen Windows of Western Virginia was founded by Pete Kallan and Vincent Randall. With combined experience of more than 30 years in the home-improvement industry, Pete and Vincent realized the current business model of helping customers with home-improvement needs is antiquated and very broken.
Pete and Vincent were raised in Salem, VA and carry degrees from Roanoke College and Virginia Tech, respectively.
Pete has been working in the home –improvement industry for forever and a few days. Beginning in flooring, and then commercial contracting as a Quality Assurance and Troubleshooting Manager, and most recently, managing the sales staff of a national bathroom remodeling company. Pete’s focus is very hands-on and customer centric. Vincent has worked as a Direct Business to Consumer Sales and Marketing professional since 1991. Recognizing customers were fed up with being dictated to by Sales Representatives, for projects they were paying for, Vincent sought a business model that TRULY puts customers first.
So, how did this happen? Great question. Pete and Vincent went to high school together and have remained friends since. One day, Pete hired Vincent for his In-Home Sales Representative Team based in Salem, VA. Between sales calls, the conversation veered toward questions regarding why any business needs to pressure customers in their homes to buy something. “Time is money, and we will give you a discount if you buy today,” really irked Pete and Vincent. Why should the Sales Reps time be more valuable than the decision to purchase a home improvement project? Why can’t the customer be in charge?
